Get Set

‘Get Set’ is the official London 2012 education programme. It is about involving children and young people (ages 3 to 19) in the excitement and inspiration of the Games. Our role in the South East is to promote ‘Get Set’ on behalf of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), to schools, colleges and Local Authorities.

Get Set aims to:

  • Provide young people in every school and college across the UK with the opportunity to get involved in the 2012 Games
  • Support the promotion of the Olympic and Paralympic values
  • Support and drive existing educational priorities and agendas
  • Enhance young people’s learning right across the curriculum – through sport, culture and education
  • Place young people at the heart of the process, involving them in project design, development and delivery
  • Offer one coherent structure through which schools, colleges and local authority education providers can engage and connect with Games bodies
  • Build excitement right across the UK in the lead up to the 2012 Games
  • Showcase and celebrate examples of interesting, inspiring and innovative practice
  • Provide opportunities for committed schools, colleges, children and young people to be rewarded, recognised and endorsed for their hard work

Register with Get Set (stage 1) - On the Get Set website there are free teaching and learning resources that you can download. This includes games, fact sheets, films, news articles and much more. If you are a school or college that hasn’t already registered with ‘Get Set’ you are missing out, and need to register as soon as possible. There is no charge. To register click here

Join the Get Set Network (stage 2) - The ‘Get Set Network’ is the next step on from registering with ‘Get Set’. Through Get Set, London 2012 will build a network of schools, colleges and other learning providers who are demonstrating a student-led commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic Values. Organisations who are accepted to join the ‘Get Set Network’ are allowed to use the Education 2012 logo in the publicity, as well as gaining access to a range of competitions and other network activities.

Go Further (stage 3) - London 2012 is also working with partners to develop even more learning resources across eight themes.
