Creative Campus

The Creative Campus Initiative is an innovative and dynamic programme of cultural events and activities leading up to 2012 which reflects the distinctive strength of creative and performing arts in South East higher education. It is funded with support from the Higher Education Funding Council for England.

Working in partnership with SEEDA, the Arts Council England South East, Legacy Trust UK, MLA South East and PODIUM, the initiative aims to provide a lasting legacy of social, economic and cultural collaboration within and through higher education by bringing young people together from diverse cultural backgrounds in the production of new and innovative forms of creative and performing arts. Our objectives are to:

  • deliver a major touring exhibition – to form an artistic response to the Olympic and Paralympic Games’ ideals, growing in scope and scale featuring a capstone exhibition at each HEI in June 2010 (Phase One) becoming a single high profile touring exhibition in collaboration with international partner institutions for 2012 (Phase Two)
  • commission and generate new work in the creative, performing and public arts aligned to objectives within the 2012 ‘Inspire’ mark programme
  • contribute towards a series of regional festivals and major cultural events – building upon our existing networks and SEEDA’s Festival Cluster initiative
  • develop educational programmes and learning materials with local schools and education centres
  • expand our international outreach – by drawing upon our partnerships and alumni connections.
